Anti-Inflammatory Breakfast Smoothie

Frozen passion fruit adds a vibrant acidic flavor to this mango green smoothie, while fresh kale helps to reduce inflammation.

Dates provide natural sweetness without adding sugar. While cilantro is not a usual smoothie ingredient,

we enjoy the herbaceous tones it provides to this smoothie. If you don't like it, feel free to leave it out; it's still great.

I was never a breakfast person until I tried making this mango-passion fruit smoothie. But one day, I was trying to think of ways to use up a bag of frozen passion fruit that I had purchased on a whim—and I came up with this simple five-ingredient breakfast smoothie.

It was love at first sip, and I can't stop producing it. I've been making this recipe every morning for my hubby and myself ever since.

This recipe makes enough to fill two 16-ounce mason jars, making it an ideal grab-and-go breakfast to take to work.

Passion fruit on its own is somewhat sour, which I enjoy. I wanted to find a way to sweeten it without using sugar, so I combined frozen mango and Medjool dates. I added plain yogurt for protein.

The fresh kale helps to balance out the tart passion fruit flavor. I like how my husband and I are slipping in part of our vegetable portions during breakfast.
