‘Bad sign’: Legal professors dispute Trump primary ruling.

Colorado's attempt to take Trump off the primary ballot for his role in the January 6 riot was rejected by the court.

Former US President Donald Trump declared victory.

He was criticized for undermining accountability.

The US Supreme Court's decision to keep Trump on the Colorado primary ballot was always likely, experts believe.

Colorado's 14th Amendment ban on Trump from the Republican presidential primary was overturned by the Supreme Court on Monday.

The “insurrection clause” of that amendment bars candidates from public office if they “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the US government.

In December, Colorado's Supreme Court decided that Trump's incitement of the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot violated the insurrection clause

. However, the US Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the state could not remove Trump from its primary ballot.
