How the Season 7 ‘Outlander’ Opening Title Sequence Teases the Story

When Grammy-winning singer Sinead O'Connor performs "The Skye Boat Song" for Season 7 of Outlander, which returns this summer, the music remains the same but the arrangement is altered.

It is with great honor that we present Sinead O'Connor singing 'The Skye Boat Song.'

I find that her performance serves as a wonderful reminder of everything lovely about Outlander. She has an unfathomable talent.

Matthew B. Roberts, the showrunner and executive producer of Outlander, states that "hers is a voice of the ages—one which pierces heart and soul—and embodies the spirit of the show."

The theme music has been modified for every season, taking cues from future plots and settings.

As Season 7 of Outlander begins, Jamie (Sam Heughan), who was split from his wife by the evil Richard Brown (Chris Larkin) and his Committee of Safety, is rushing to save Claire (Catriona Balfe) from hanging.

Claire is being held in prison in Wilmington for the murder of Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds).

For readers of Diana Gabaldon's best-selling novels, however, the opening sequence provides a few additional hints as to what lies ahead.
