Less than three years after making Jamal Adams the highest-paid NFL safety, Seahawks cut him.

The Seattle Seahawks' Jamal Adams deal failed.

One of the game's brightest young stars was traded after a turbulent time with the Jets.

The Seahawks gave the Jets two first-round picks for a player who had expressed his dissatisfaction with the franchise.

Adams is a free agent after 34 of 67 games with Seattle.

Adams was released by the Seahawks on Tuesday after four years. The trade in Adams' rookie season must have thrilled the Seahawks.

Adams earned a second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler for the third straight season despite playing only 12 games.

His last sack was in 2020, when he was most recognized for blitzing rather than covering. He's played 22 games in three seasons.

Last season, he was penalized $50,000 for a concussion checkup dispute with a neurotrauma expert.

Later in the season, he was lambasted for labeling a Jets reporter's wife photo "Yikes."

After Adams gave the Cowboys a touchdown, the reporter used the same caption.
