More than 1 billion people in the world now live with obesity, analysis find

BEIJING — An survey published Thursday in the journal The Lancet revealed that over one billion people,,,

including children, adolescents, and adults, are overweight or obese.

This makes obesity the leading cause of malnutrition in numerous nations.

During a news conference on Thursday, Dr. Majid Ezzati, a professor at Imperial College London and a senior author of the report,,,

stated that the fast transition from underweight to obese in low-income and middle-income countries was a major factor in this shocking statistic.

According to Ezzati, the number of individuals living with obesity has already surpassed the previous projections made by ,,,

the World Obesity Federation, which indicated that one billion people will be living with obesity by 2030.

"We've really been taken aback by how fast things have happened," he commented.
