New Romeo and Juliet will star Tom Holland on West End.

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet will be staged in a new production at the West End starring British Hollywood actor Tom Holland.

The 27-year-old actor, who is best known for his role as Peter Parker in the most recent Spider-Man films, will play Romeo Montague in the romantic tragedy produced by Jamie Lloyd Company.

"Tom Holland is one of the greatest, most exciting young actors in the world," stated 43-year-old director Lloyd.

"We are honored to have him return to the West End."

When Holland played Billy Elliot The Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London in 2008, he made his stage debut as a young actor.

His portrayal of the title character in the most recent Spider-Man superhero films, such as Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), has made him renowned worldwide.

In television, he has also starred in the historical drama Wolf Hall and the psychological thriller The Crowded Room.

Romeo and Juliet will play from May 11 to August 3 at the Duke of York's Theatre.
