So THAT'S Why Your Nipples Get Hard When It's Cold

Some of the many ways in which the body reacts to cold include teeth chattering and flushing cheeks.

Cold weather makes your nipples tingle, but why is that.

Even in warmer months, such as when the air conditioner is turned up to its highest setting, this can occur.

When nipples stand up straight, what exactly is going on with the body.

According to dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner, who spoke with HuffPost, goose bumps,,,

medically called piloerections, are caused by the same physiological process that hardens nipples when it's cold.

"This response is beyond our control and is a result of our bodies' automated reactions to the environment,,,

" stated Zeichner, an associate professor of dermatology at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
