Taylor Swift joins $2.8m CharacterX seed round 

According to investor database Crunchbase, American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift took part in a $2.8 million seed fundraising round in CharacterX, a San Francisco-based AI social network that lets users create and communicate with virtual characters.  

Swift did not reveal the amount of money it invested. 

The round's top investors were Spark Digital Capital, INCE Capital, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.  

According to a statement from the company, CharacterX changes the social networking scene by fusing blockchain technology with artificial general intelligence.  

In addition, the company released a developer website along with the CharacterX mobile apps for iOS and Android, allowing users to "create and build deep emotional attachment with AI beings."  

With a net worth of $1.1 billion, Swift, 33, is among the wealthiest self-made women in the world, according to Forbes magazine.  

She was also selected as the 2023 Person of the Year by Time magazine.  

The singer Shake it Off's main source of wealth is her lucrative music career, which she started at the age of 16 with her self-titled first album.
