Taylor Swift's publicist addresses alleged altercation between her father and a Sydney photographer

"Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel," a Swift rep tells PEOPLE.

Taylor Swift's spokesman commented on news that her father Scott fought an Australian photographer early Tuesday morning.

"Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water," Swift's rep said in a statement.

Sky News reported on Tuesday morning local time that Scott, 71, was accused of punching a photographer on Sydney's North Shore hours after her latest performance.

Police told PEOPLE they were investigating a "alleged assault after a 71-year-old man allegedly assaulted a 51-year-old man at Neutral Bay Wharf" about 2:30 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

The younger man reported the event, and North Shore Police Area Command officers are investigating.

Police say the man did not need medical attention.

Ever since his daughter's record-breaking tour began last spring, Scott has been there. He fed fans and chatted with Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce and Rebel Wilson in the VIP tent over the weekend.
