Two former Bengals tight ends are expected to enter free agency: Could either wind up in Cincinnati?

The Cincinnati Bengals presently have no tight ends under contract for 2024. They signed Drew Sample, Tanner Hudson, and Irv Smith Jr. to short-term contracts.

Given their uneven bag of success, it's easy to see why they could be ready to restructure the job.

It just so happens that two of the NFL's most recent tight end success stories will be available on the free market.

The Carolina Panthers released Hayden Hurst, while the New York Jets released CJ Uzomah.

Fans will recall that these two had reasonably good seasons, given that their targets were split between Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd in both of the team's

Both were able to earn a large salary in free agency the following season.

Hurst recorded 52 receptions for 414 yards and two scores in 13 games with Cincinnati in 2022.

He was only able to play nine games for the Panthers last season due to a significant concussion, catching 18 catches for 184 yards and one touchdown.
